Cream Soap Adventures

I just wanted to give a little update on my cream soaping adventures.  Everything worked out pretty well, and I like the end result:

This is the raw soap after cooking and letting it "relax" post-supercreaming

Looks almost good enough to eat, right?  This is the finished product, ready for fragrances and additives.  It's really nice as is as a shaving cream.  Nice and thick!

So anyway, I will start taking orders for this neat stuff soon... I just have to figure out what to package it in.  I *think* I've got jars, but I would like to put it in a squeeze bottle or something.  It really all depends on the consistency.  I read that this stuff can get stiff after a week or so, so I'm going to let it cure for a little while to see what happens, and adjust accordingly.

Cream Soaps and Scrubs

Last night was another 5-hour wax spree for me, as I melted a bunch of little sample disks with fragrance in them so that people can "sniff" them out to find what they like.

But now, I'm going to switch gears for a minute.  I've done this in the past, so I know HOW to do it, but whether or not there will be any interest in it is beyond me.  I am thinking about making cream soaps, maybe making them into foaming scrubs or whatnot.  I'm not sure yet, but I'd like to see if I can get some feedback on that.  It's not something I see as often as other things, hence the venture into semi-new territory.  Anyway, here are the applications of a "cream" soap:
  • shaving cream
  • exfoliating scrub
  • just soap
  • facial scrub
  • foot scrub
  • bath "frosting"
  • the list goes on...
So what do you think?

Welcome!

this is just my first post to test the waters of my new blog!  i have a lot of things in store for it, including many creative outlets of expression ranging from the crafting that i do for my shop as well as writing, home improvement, music composition... my ADD overwhelms me!

anyway, i currently have a slew of new product ideas that i'd like to share, but haven't started or listed (some stuff is made, just waiting for love).  here are a few photos of what's in store:

"Mango Peach - Soy Wax - Fragrance Melt"
"100% wool felted coaster set of 4"
"Single-use Exfoliating Sugar Soaps"

well, the wax melts, i spent about 5 hours yesterday just cooking a bunch of wax to make these babies.  not just the mango peach, but a myriad of fragrances.  i just can't get enough!  i think a lot of times my crafting is an outlet for me to empty my mind and bring a little focus to my life.  i am one of those types of people that is constantly thinking about too much all at once, and a little calm does me wonders.  i find that calm in crafting.  i am a fragrance ADDICT.  i'm really getting into candle and room scenting... the excellent part about it is that when i make these to sell, there's always just a little extra for me :)  the great thing about soy wax also is that the fragrance translates so well into it.  unlike soap, where you run the risk of completely altering your fragrance, and thus your vision for the final product.  don't get me wrong, i love soap making!  i mainly do hot process just to eliminate the fragrance-altering variable.  for some reason however, i don't get a whole lot of soap sales.  this will change... i guarantee!
